Quiet Majesty

LANAI Your private island paradise

If you’re after a metropolitan vibe with a booming nightlife, the private island of Lanai is not for you. This is an island where you will truly avoid the crowds. Hiking to the top of the cliff at Sweetheart Rock or roaming the otherworldly Keahiakawelo (Garden of the Gods), you’ll feel less like a tourist and more like an explorer.

Only nine miles from Maui, Lanai is another world entirely. Two resorts, tiny Lanai city, and a whole lot of nature make this quiet, secluded island a unique slice of paradise that feels all your own.

Take in a dramatic sunrise from the cliff overlooking Puu Pehe (Sweetheart Rock) then relax, snorkel, and hike away the day at Hulopoe Bay Beach.

Venture into Lanai city to explore eclectic art galleries, cafes, and boutiques or hike through the Cook pines on the scenic Munro trail. Up the mountain, the Lodge at Koele offers horseback riding, 4×4 Offroading, Hunting, Bicycling, and Archery at the center of Lanai.

Lanai has only 30 miles of paved road, but over 400 miles of dirt roads waiting to be explored by 4-wheel drive, much of which is in the northern region of the island. Make your way to Kaiolohia, also called Shipwreck Beach where you can see a derelict ship stuck in the rocky waters off the coast. North of the Kanepuu Preserve is Keahiakawelo, The Garden of the Gods, full of lunar landscapes that stand in sharp contrast to the sand and surf of the islands. If your willing to make the bumpy drive to Polihua Beach, you may well find yourself alone on a breathtaking, 2-mile stretch of sand.
